Tummy Flattering Tops

Hi Miss Leyn,

I found your blog just a few days ago ng mag-search ako ng fashion tips for fat girls and sa lahat ng blog na nakita ko ay ang blog niyo lang ang helpful talaga. still meron pa rin po akong mga questions na gusto ko sanang itanong and i finally had the guts to email you hopefully you will help me with my fashion problem.

Im Fat (over weight not just chubby) 38 inches ang size ng beywang ko and im 5 ft 4 inches tall. Im 18 yrs old. My real problem is my BIG TUMMY kasi maliit naman po ang braso at mga binti ko. hindi ko po alam kung paano ko siya itatago. i always wear a black T-shirt and maong pants and that’s all, no accesories and such.

But i want to change my self bago sana mag tapos ang year na ito. I want a new me and a new start. so sana matulungan nyo ako with a little fashion help. thank you! Godbless and take care!

Sian

Dear Sian,

The fact that you’re starting to search for fashion tips is a good sign that you want to improve your lifestyle and clothing. Well I have to be honest but based on your description, it will take time for you to get slimmer. So instead of forcing yourself to hide your bulges even though they’re still obvious, as of now, just try to improve the plus size clothes you wear. There’s nothing wrong if you still wear jeans and black shirts because they’re recommended for your body type but now try to add flair on the clothes you’ll buy.

For example, the outfits shown above are better alternatives than wearing a large-sized boyish shirt and jeans. Your arms and legs are okay naman, so you just have to focus on the middle part of your body. I already mentioned some fashion tips for plus size girls on some of my entries but for you, here are my picks:

Collect plain cotton Jersey T-Shirts and over-sized blouses. You have to be careful with prints because some designs can tend to make you look bigger. Shirts designed with asymmetric shape are tummy flattering. Good thing they’re trendy and practical. Marami nyan sa MUJI.

Skinny or Stretch jeans can make your bottom half look slimmer than wearing your ordinary straight or flair maong pants. You’ll might have a hard time looking for skinny jeans your size so spend on custom-made pants. It’s a good investment since jeans usually last for years. Black or blue is okay but you can also buy lighter colors like gray and taupe for a change.

Bold accessories are in trend but not recommended for plus size girls. Stick to thin necklaces, bracelets and small earrings. Accessories don’t have to be expensive kaya as of now, shop for fancy long necklaces before you spend money on jewelries (gold, silver and black tones should be on your top list when choosing accessories so you can match them with any clothing).

There! Just start with the basics then you can shift to more girly clothes like tunics and kaftans. Just keep up the motivation dear!

Cover Up

Hello Leyn.

First time kong mag-email sayo and tong problem ko is about swimwear.

Love,
beachbeach

Dear beachbeach,

Ayan, medyo rush response ‘to kaya maikli lang. Hmm, if you define yourself as “mataba”, you still have to classify yourself whether you have an hourglass, apple or pear shaped body type. This is if you plan to be in a swimwear under a shirt or cover-up.

Since your issue is about your dark ua, you might not be comfortable wearing sarongs or anything sleeveless. On the beach, you can wear flowing ponchos, a white tunic or handkerchief dresses instead. Its shapeless style can conceal your figure and then just show some legs para hindi ka super covered.

When swimming, you can use a silk like cover-up na parang kulambo instead of a plain shirt. Shirts tend to become heavier when wet so silky fabric are more comfy and stylish. Clothes like these are mostly available on department stores for about 250-500 pesos each. Invest on the cover-up instead of the swimwear. (Below is an example but it doesn’t have to be that long, just something like that.)

You can wear a tube swimsuit under your cover-up. For a more “summer” look, the colors of your top and under swimwear should be contrasting. (For example: Fuchsia tube and white poncho).

Preparations for the beach are really stressing. But don’t worry, once you’re at the beach, you’ll no longer think of these body problems because you’ll be enjoying most of the time.

Happy weekend!

Monokini for Pear Shaped Body

elo po ms. sosyalera.net

hinge lang po sana ako ng konting opinion. makiki-fiesta kame sa Manaog this coming april 1st, then mag be-beach kame ng family ko with my girlfriend.

ask ko lang kung bagay yung body shape between pear shape and hour glass sa monokini?? also she has a small bust. ang sabe nya sa sm north daw nakakita sya. then ito yung mga store na nabanggit nya. Sassa Activewear, Tomato and Cinderella. (good thing i googled it and visited your site :D ). this coming sunday namin balak bumile.

ty po.

Oh hello there anonymous,

Are you sure that’d be on April 1st? Hehe. Anyway, if you still need an advice, here it goes.

I’ve posted that Hour Glass Body type can wear Monokinis because they have a proportioned figure. But if your girlfriend obviously has fuller bottom then I don’t recommend the monokini style. Kasi the monokini can just emphasize her hips and bottom half especially that she has small bust line (like illustrated below). It’s just like the monokini will be formed into a triangle shape. As I’ve posted before, halter tops with underwire are more fitting for girls with small chest.

Again, I’m unsure about her actual built so it’s better if she’ll try fitting the monokini first. Kung Hour Glass type talaga ang body type ni girlfriend, monokinis are okay then you can just cheat the bust line with paddings. Hehe.

Nice to know you’re helping your girlfriend with this. Have a nice vacation!

Flabby Legs

More Power and Thank you,
Nica

Dear Nica,

Unfortunately, I also have the same problem and I myself have been longing for solutions. Haha. But don’t worry, I’ll still share some tips and help you, fashion-wise.

Well, my legs are not that big but they’re fuller than usual (knowing that I have skinny built). I have no idea if I got them from swimming or biking when I was still young. According to fitness gurus, we develop leg muscles if we work out too much or we got used with certain activities (like biking) from childhood. Some say the best way to reduce leg muscles is not move at all, which sounds ridiculous. If those aren’t muscles but leg fats, then it’s because of genes. Whether you have muscles or fats, the most effective way to lessen them is through dieting with proper exercise – which is one of the hardest thing to do in this world. Haha.

So your Plan B would be about fashion: on how to look fashionable without highlighting your legs. Black tights or leggings are effective in lengthening your legs but unsuitable for hot weather. Maxi Dresses can be an alternative for short skirts this summer.

If long dresses aren’t your thing, stick to clothes that are not too long nor to short – like an inch below the knee or knee-length pleated skirts. Avoid pencil cut style or bodycons.

You can also research on certain exercises that can make your legs lean. Of course, it takes time and patience unless you’re willing to undergo surgeries. Hehe.

Best of Luck!

Love Lots,

Leyn
